Fertility therapy

No individual cases are discussed respecting the confidentiality of the clients.


Ten couples aged between 30 – 45 years were medically found infertile. Some couples were suffering infertility for six years with more than one failed IVF treatment. The couples were given therapy for a minimum of 8 months to one year with 32 to 48 sessions. Every couple got pregnant with their own kids and had healthy babies within 2 – 6 months after finishing the therapy. Some of them had twins or triplets—fertility therapy success rate is 100%.


The Challenge

Couples had various issues like failed IVF, sexual dysfunction, sexual rigidity, fear of pregnancy. The couples were facing infertility a minimum of 3 years up to 6 years. Some of them were referred by their obstetricians, and others came with anxiety, panic attacks, and mood-affected issues. Most of them were helpless and hopeless about becoming parents. The couple should be 100% committed to the therapy and complete the required sessions.



Client Issues

Each couple’s problems were unique. The issues were lack of awareness of fertility medical treatment, misconception about assisted methods used in fertility treatment, doubt and fear of failure, fear of failure was more with those who faced more number of pregnancy loses, all of them faced with guilt, shame, self-blame, social stigma, pressure from the family, anger, frustration, overburden, faith issues, lack of trust in treatments, self-harming thoughts, self-deception, rejection, avoidance, depressions, depressive moods, sadness, helplessness, jealousy when siblings or friends get a baby, anxiety and stress, sleep disturbances, sexual arousal disorder, sexual frigidity and post-traumatic stress issues.



Therapeutic Intervention

Skills-based therapeutic counselling was given to the couple, especially to the wife who faced most of the issues, provided guidance to choose the right medical practitioner who is experienced and having good results infertility treatment. The base of the therapy was cognitive behaviour, acceptance and commitment. The fertility therapist helped them in understanding and accepting the uniqueness of their issues, analyzing the medical findings, using the neuroplasticity theories to make necessary changes in the belief, thinking and behaviour of the infertile couple. They were given training in possibility and solution-focused thinking. Karma and faith counselling, guilt and regret removal therapy, self-confidence building, self-regulation and motivation techniques were applied, provided help in handling social stigma, dealing with the fear of failure and attracting peace and success through self-hypnosis, self-suggestions, positive affirmations and self-talk. Emotional intelligence, boundary setting, perception management, towards-thinking and abundance-thinking skills were taught. Application of the power of the law of attraction and gratitude helped in developing trust, tolerance, patience, perseverance and maintaining conscientiousness in the fertility treatment.



Outcome and Benefits

100% results as all of them got pregnant and had their own child within one year after completing the therapy. 90% of the clients informed Dr Susan when they confirmed their pregnancy. Some of them kept updating their progress of the pregnancy. All of them were happy and thankful for the blessings they received. All of them informed when they had their baby in their hand and a few of them informed Dr Susan the good news first as they said they felt emotionally overwhelmed when they saw their baby the first time and wanted to call Dr. Susan immediately. A couple of them came with their newborns to Dr Susan to carry the baby in her hand and bless them.



Clients’ Feedback

All of them were happy that they finally become a parent of their child. They expressed their gratitude. Few fathers said they were doubtful about the therapy and when the result came, they were surprised and happily convinced. Almost all of them said it was God almighty who heard their prayers and they find the therapist who could make their living meaningful.
